Trophies mark week at Collins Lake

By Kathy Hess, Lake Reporter
03/28/15 -- Look at these three whoppers of the week! Today we are getting a trophy trout plant with tags and yesterday we released another net pen full of trout. Lana Herrington just emailed her photo of her 2 lb. 8 oz. trout catch with a green tag! She was fishing with pink Powerbait from shore by the dam. Carrie Deterding of Carmichael netted a beautiful 6 lb. trout which she caught on an Apex Lure and flashers while trolling.

Nancy Stapp and Anthony Crawford knocked em’ dead again this week, with Nancy hooking the biggest on their stringer, a gorgeous 6 lb. trout along with nine other trout (2 limits total)…..Their favorite trolling lure is a Rapala. Little Miles Hansard from Brownsville had a very successful fishing trip with his Dad, it was Miles 1st Fishing Trip and together they hooked 8 trout!

Steve and Wyatt from Petaluma hooked and netted a 5 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow trout trolling a Kastmaster by the dam. Liam Hurley and Alex Freeman each caught trout on orange Powerbait near their campsite in the Open Area.

Ron Helget from Dixon limited out on bass and he was tossing rubber worms (pumpkin colored) near the dam. Kathy and Tammy fished near the powerlines trolling Rapalas and took five nice trout home. Alan Anderson of Ukiah trolled a Wedding Ring Spinner and lucked into a nice 6 lb. Rainbow. Morris Ball of Grass Valley wraps up this week of fantastic fish with his 6 lb. 12 oz.
