Sac River rainbow fishing very good!

By Jeff Goodwin
09/04/15 -- We are far from hanging up our trout rods for the year, in fact, we never usually do! With this year’s salmon season on the Sacramento River getting a late start, we have had the opportunity to stay on top of the trout fishing on our local waters. Whether its trolling the lakes and reservoirs, or fishing the river, we are finding excellent trout fishing everywhere we go! Dick Nite spoons continue to dominate the catch and release spin fishery, and Yakima Bait Company Maglip 3.0's have become a mainstay of the back trolling technique in the rivers. Maglip 3.0's are also a very effective when trolling in the lakes and reservoirs.

On the Sacramento River valley flyfishing scene, we have partnered with AC Guide Service who is running fly fishing trips out of their 23' Fishrite jet boat. AC Guide Service has equipped their boat with casting platforms on the front and rear decks of their boat and have included leg bracing for support for fly casters. This is a new opportunity for fly anglers on the Sacramento River who want to cover a lot of water in a short period of time. It also affords the fly angler access to holding water over and over again without having to wait for the guide to row back upstream into the prime water.

Another benefit to fishing out of a power boat is that there are no periods of down time because you can be anywhere on the river within minutes. Its a great service to have access to and we are offering discounted trips while this new kind of fly fishing trip gains popularity. We will also be offering striped bass fly fishing trips through AC Guide Service in spring 2016!

The Salmon are on their way, but in the meantime, there are plenty of great fishing opportunities for trout fishing here in the Redding area. So let’s get out there and take advantage of it now while it’s hot! If you are looking for an awesome guided trout fishing trip, we are currently running fall trout fishing specials which include reduced pricing packages! We also offer child, military/vets, and first responder discounts! Give us a call for details. Tight lines!
